As an active campaigner on social and housing matters and trade unionist, I will collaborate with local people to maximise opportunities to make Bridgemary greener, cleaner and safer. Together we can be the change Bridgemary wants to see.

I chose to make Gosport my home two years ago, moving here to live close to family and inspired by the location of countryside, coast and welcoming community. My interest in politics initially arose from seeing and experiencing first-hand the inequalities within society through working for Women’s Aid and in the homelessness sector, work which has continued for more than 38 years. I am also passionate about community volunteering and activism, getting things done, bringing people together to collectively respond within the local area. However reliance on vocation and community good-will to plug the gaps exposed through a lack of funding from central government to essential services does not work, resulting in erosion of support to vulnerable, mobility impaired and elderly people, youth and children, and gaps in provision such as a lack of adequate affordable childcare. In particular I campaign for safe, settled housing, a return to building social homes and ending homelessness. I am firmly committed to the right of each person to be able to work towards their goals and aspiration, to empower them self and benefit from the results of their efforts. In order for that to occur the infrastructure must be in place to support them. Our greatest asset is the community of Gosport. It is essential to hear and respond to the voices of local people, their priorities, the local issues they identify as of concern and work towards solutions together. I look forward to continuing work with residents and Labour colleagues to build a strong, inclusive and prosperous recovery for our community.
